7/9/2004New Car

I bought a new car. Way cool. The one disappointment is that it bursts a theory I have about gas tanks. I thought that in newer cars the placement of the gas tank was directly related to the placement of the fuel gadget on the console of the car. I thought that whatever side the indicator was, was the side of the car the gas tank was going to be on. But my 2004 Honda Civic dissipates that theory. add a comment | 0 comments

7/12/2004Think Different

I find this very frustrating. I am trying to be open minded and get myself familiar with Macintosh computers. I have an iMac in my office and it's been sitting next to my Dell pretty much ignored but from time to time I do use it. Today is one of those times; however, the screen brightness is a little dull so I'd like to adjust it. I know Macs have all these keyboard options so I google it. Several webpages direct me to hit F15 to increase brightness and F14 to decrease brightness. Great, except there is no F14 or F15 on my Macintosh keyboard. Way to go guys...yeah, "think different." add a comment | 0 comments

7/14/2004Breakfast

I've been trying to eat breakfast lately but this morning and didn't have time and now it's 9:19 and I'm starved. If I'd have known it was going to be this kind of commitment I'm not sure that I would have started the breakfast kick. Normally I have a Nouriche® smoothie from Yoplait® (http://yoplait.com/products_nouriche.aspx) but I only bought a few initially because I didn't know if I'd like them...more specifically I didn't know if there would be chunks of fruit in the smoothie. I cannot stand chunks of any kind in yogurt or a yogurt-like substance. I cringe just thinking about it. However, I was pleased to find out that Nouriche® does not have chunks. add a comment | 0 comments

7/16/2004It's a Girl

I found out my sister-in-law is having a baby girl. Rebecca Joy is due sometime around October 17th. And might I note that October is an excellent month to have a birthday. add a comment | 0 comments

7/19/2004Murphy's Law

I already have a chip in the windshield of my car. I am so mad. I don't think my insurance covers it. Hopefully I'll be able to patch it rather than replacing the entire windshield. Also, I went through the car wash on Sunday and Monday it rained...what is going on?! add a comment | 0 comments

7/25/2004Haircut

So I cut my hair. I didn't think it was anything too drastic but I've gotten mixed reactions from people. It's a hard line to walk...on the one hand I shouldn't care what people think, but on the other, no one wants to look ugly. add a comment | 0 comments

8/18/2004Read My Lips..

At the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (my alma matter and current place of employment) students and staff are given id cards that you can add funds to and subsequently purchase food, snacks and miscellaneous items at various places around campus. Apparently, if a student uses a blugold card to buy food they are not taxed on the purchase, but faculty/staff are. So today I was in line to buy a sandwich and the lady in front of me started raising a stink because she had gotten taxed on her purchase. Her total came to $1.04 instead of .99 cents. The woman was probably in her forties so she looked like a staffer, it was an honest mistake by the cashier. Apparently not willing to be so forgiving, the woman demanded that her account be credited. The cashier had to call over a manager to get the situation straightened out...and the whole time I'm thinking, "It's five cents lady. Here's a nickel and shut up about it." I already have a chip in the windshield of my car. I am so mad. I don't think my insurance covers it. Hopefully I'll be able to patch it rather than replacing the entire windshield. Also, I went through the car wash on Sunday and Monday it rained...what is going on?! add a comment | 0 comments

9/13/2004Movies

There is a severe shortage of good movies out there right now. I think I heard last weekend the top movie at the box office made a measly $17 million. Wimbledon looks cute and that's coming out Friday--I'll likely see that. I'm also looking forward to Ladder 49. But in the mean time, my DVD set of Alias and Sports Night will have to do. add a comment | 0 comments

9/24/2004TV

I watched several season premieres this week. I caught Lost, CSI:NY, and ER. Lost was okay--I'm giving it a change because it was written and directed by J.J. Abrams, the creator/writer of Alias. Abrams has this obsession with the supernatural that could be his (and his shows undoing) but for now, I'll just watch and see. CSI:NY was good too--pretty much the same as the other CSIs. So I wonder what will make this one fly...the location? I'm so used to seeing Gary Sinise as a bad guy that I don't want to trust him...and the whole bit with his wife dying on 9-11 seemed over the top. I didn't feel it was necessary. I haven't watched ER in a couple of years so the premiere was a bit confusing at times, but otherwise it felt like the same old show. add a comment | 0 comments

10/31/2004Exciting News!!

I'm getting married!!! Eric proposed on October 10th and (obviously) I said yes. I hope anyone reading this has been informed of this joyous occasion by Eric or myself or a family member rather than via the web--but I fear not all good news travels as fast as I would hope. Thus far things are going smoothly...we're pretty organized at this point and have been working together to get everything planned. So far our tastes are quite similar so it has made planning a breeze. However, I have devised a system which I think will ensure fairness and compromise for all involved. Eric and I will each get "vetoes" which we can use to override a decision that we are opposed to. We will only have a set number, so they must be used wisely. I will have 50, and Eric will have 1. I think it will work out nicely. add a comment | 0 comments

11/15/2004Starbucks Doubleshot

his morning I tried a Starbucks Doubleshot Premium Coffee Drink. It's not too bad. I bit more of a coffee flavor than their Frappuccino drinks I love so much...but these have a better commercial, so I'm willing to overlook it. In other news...I bought a wedding dress. And in true Jodi form, I bought it online off ebay. Most of you reading this probably think I'm crazy, and any of you who know me understand that I am...but the situation really isn't as crazy as it sounds. Ask me about it and I'll tell you the full story, otherwise hush. add a comment | 0 comments

11/17/2004Bowling

This fall I was a sub for a bowling team that has league on Tuesday nights. It was only a six week season, but I think I bowled at least four weeks, maybe even five. My average is normally right around 100, but last night I was a power bowler. I broke 140 in all three games. The week before I was in the 120's...I think I may have a real future here. The next league starts up in February, my goal is to break 160. To top it all off my team won! We had a ninth inning rally and ended up beating Eric's team. How sweet is that? add a comment | 0 comments

11/30/2004Non-Midas Touch

I think I have the non-midas touch. Lately pretty much everything I touch turns to crap. Things have been breaking for no apparent reason and quite frankly I'm growing tired of it. I just want things to work properly! Let me give you a few examples, the lock on my door broke, on of my webpages wouldn't load yesterday or the day before, I can't get a scanner installed in one of the offices I support...it's madness I tell you! add a comment | 0 comments

12/6/2004Am I a Grinch?

Am I crazy that I find it extremely annoying that radio stations have switched their venues to an entirely Christmas lineup? I'm all about getting into the holiday spirit, but playing song after song after song of carols and holiday "classics" is overkill in my book. Are there no new songs by artists that come out in December? I feel guilty for being annoyed. I love Christmas and the meaning behind it, but I feel this is how things get commercialized. We take a good thing and then cheapen it by stretching and pulling it until it's not even recognizable. It's sad really. add a comment | 0 comments

12/16/2004America's Next Top Model

I watched several episodes of an all-day marathon of America's Next Top Model last Saturday I couldn't help but tune into the finale last night. And the winner is....(drum roll please)...Eva! Amanda (the one with the amazingly blue eyes who is going blind) got eliminated first and then it was down to YaYa and Eva. I wanted YaYa to win but I think it's cool that Eva did because she is only 5' 7". After I saw a "short" person take the contest, I realize that my discontent in life is due to the fact that I haven't been pursuing my dream of becoming a model...I think I've found my new purpose in life! I think I'll enter my 5' 3 1/2" frame into the next contest. add a comment | 0 comments
